NORTH ATTLEBOROUGH, Mass. (WLNE) — A North Attleborough man was sentenced for stabbing a man outside a sober home in 2023, according to Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn, III.

27-year-old Justin Perez was sentenced on Sept. 25 to three to five years in State Prison followed by two years of supervised probation.

According to Quinn, Perez and the 58-year-old victim resided in separate sober homes on 174 and 180 North Washington Street, and had not interacted in the past.

On Dec. 2, 2023, residents saw Perez “acting and speaking strangely” in the common area of their sober home with a knife and a cut on his arm.

Residents said he appeared to be “under the effects of some type of drug.”

At that time, the victim left his residence and began walking to a Cumberland Farms.

According to Quinn, Perez then began to follow the victim.

As the victim was walking, he said he “felt a punch to his back” and collapsed inside of Cumberland Farms.

Perez ran back to the sober home and hid the knife in a gas grill, which police seized.

According to Quinn, the victim suffered serious injuries to his back from the stabbing.
