North Kingstown names new fire chief

NORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (WLNE) — Officials in North Kingstown have named the town’s new fire chief.

Monday night, town councilors unanimously approved John G. Linacre to take over at the fire department.

Chief Linacre has been with the department for 35 years.

He’s been the assistant chief since 2022, then acting chief in January after the former chief retired.

A formal swearing in ceremony will be held in the next few weeks.
