North Kingstown passes $197.2M bond referendum

NORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (WLNE) — The town of North Kingstown has approved $197.2 million in bonds for a new public safety complex, as well as the renovation of two schools.

At 100% reporting, 60.2% approved the bond of $60 million to construct a new public safety complex in Quonset, as well as a new fire station on Kingstown Road.

57.7% approved the allocation $137 million toward replacing Wickford Middle School and renovating Davisville Middle School.

Last year, voters were asked in one question if they were in favor of the construction of a new middle school and public safety complex, with a bond costing a total of  estimated $222 million.

The question, referred as the “mega bond.”
