Providence (WLNE)- A jury has found 46-year-old Joseph Coletta of North Providence guilty of five counts of second-degree child molestation.
Coletta was accused of sexually abusing his girlfriend’s daughter, a minor between the ages of 8- and 12-years-old, multiple times between 2008 and 2012.
“The defendant’s conduct here stole this child’s innocence and forever changed her future,” said Rhode Island Attorney General Peter Neronha. “The bill for that conduct has come due.”
Coletta is being held without bail as he awaits sentencing.
Detective Conor O’Donnell of the Rhode Island State Police headed the investigation.
The trial was held in Superior Court under Justice Netti C. Vogel. Special Assistant Attorney General Bethany Laskowski prosecuted the case.
