North Providence man who barricaded himself from police has lengthy criminal history

NORTH PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The North Providence man who barricaded himself inside of his home Wednesday has a lengthy criminal history.
According to court documents obtained by ABC 6 News, Gino Rotondo has 37 total criminal cases against him dating back to 1988.
Rotondo was charged with simple assault, shoplifting, possession of controlled substances, credit card and check fraud, among other things.
Wednesday, North Providence police responded to a home on Stephanie Drive after Rotondo allegedly fired a gunshot inside the home.
Police Chief Alfredo Ruggerio said that Rotondo surrendered at about 9:30 a.m. Thursday after being barricaded inside of his home for nearly 20 hours.
The suspect is currently being evaluated at Rhode Island Hospital.
