North Providence police release name of woman found shot to death at her home

NORTH PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — North Providence police are investigating after a 61-year-old woman was found shot to death at her home.
Police responded to a Centerdale Avenue home Wednesday night for a call from a family member of Claire Flynn, who hadn’t seen her since Thanksgiving.
The family member found her lying face down on the couch and called for help.
Police said the Medical Examiner’s Office ruled her manner of death as homicide, and that she died from a single bullet wound.
It was unclear when Flynn was killed.
Chief Alfredo Ruggiero noted that her death was an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public.
The department said evidence taken from the scene will be assessed in a joint investigation with the Rhode Island Attorney General’s Office.
