North Providence police: Two illegal firearms seized during traffic stop

NORTH PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A Woonsocket man has been arrested after a traffic stop allegedly produced two illegal firearms in his vehicle.

Kyle Mumford, 25, was pulled over on Mineral Spring Avenue Thursday after an officer observed him driving without a seatbelt, according to Colonel Alfredo Ruggiero, Jr., Chief of the North Providence Police Department.

The officer also learned that Mumford was driving with a suspended license, according to Ruggiero.

Officers located two firearms during a vehicle inventory search; a Colt 45mm with a fully-loaded 10-round magazine containing hollow point bullets was found under the driver’s seat floorboard, and a fully-loaded Taurus revolver was found under the passenger seat, according to Ruggiero.

Ruggiero said that Mumford did not have a license or permit for either firearm.
