NORTH PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A Warwick man is accused of assaulting a woman depositing cash from her employer and fleeing with $12,665.
On March 19 at approximately 9:55 a.m., Joshua McCullough,60, approached the victim in the parking lot of the Charles Street Citizens Bank as she was making a deposit for Family Dollar in Providence.
He allegedly punched her in the chest and stole her deposit bag before driving off in a silver Jeep Cherokee.
The Flock camera system from Providence and Warwick later identified McCullough.
He was arrested on March 21 by members of the Warwick Police, Rhode Island State Police and East Providence Police SWAT teams.
McCullough is being charged with first-degree robbery and felony assault and is scheduled to appear in court Thursday.
In 1993, McCullough, then named Terrell Muhammad, shot and killed Boston police officer Thomas Rose while in custody for suspicion of theft.
He was charged with murder and sentenced to 26-30 years in prison, of which he served 15 before being released in 2009.
McCullough also served six years for manslaughter in the death of a Dorchester clerk in 1986.
