NORTH PROVIDENCE, R.I. — North Providence will become the first in the nation to install active shooter detection systems in all municipal and school buildings.
The system will alert police officers of gunshots inside the building. In addition, it will allow for those inside the building to better protect themselves from any threats.
Mayor Charles Lombardi, along with Rhode Island State Police Colonel Ann Assumpico, will unveil the system Tuesday at North Providence High School.
The high school will be among the first to utilize the technology.
