UPDATE: Rhode Island State Police ID teen critically injured in North Smithfield crash

NORTH SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Authorities have released the name of the two women involved in the two-way crash on Route 146 Wednesday afternoon.
Victoria Demers, 18, of Carr St., Sutton M.A., was driving north on Route 146 near the Pound Hill Road exit at 10:00 a.m. when she lost control of her vehicle. The car struck the median and crashed into another car in the travel lane.
She was taken to Rhode Island Hospital and remains in critical condition.
The driver of the second vehicle, identified as Maria Ortiz, 33, of Fletcher St., Central Falls, was taken to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment on minor injuries.
State Police say that the cause of the crash is still under investigation.
