NY prosecutors charge RI man for gun trafficking

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE)- Federal Prosecutors in New York are charging a man from Providence for trafficking dozens of ghost guns between the Bronx and Dominican Republic.

Robert Alcantara has allegedly been involved in the sale of 100 firearms, mostly ghost guns, which are unidentifiable privately made firearms, which he finished working on at his house for sale. Investigators found that Alcantara did not have a license to sell firearms.

Investigators found that during a trip to Pennsylvania to attend a gun show, Alcantara and coconspirators purchased 46 upper receivers and 45 lower receivers.

Alcantara was arrested in November while driving through the Bronx with the weapons, telling police he did not intend to sell the completed weapons, ATF investigators found these statements to be false throughout their investigations.
