Officials break ground on site of affordable housing complex in East Greenwich

EAST GREENWICH, R.I. (WLNE) — Rhode Island leaders broke ground on a new affordable housing development in East Greenwich on Friday.
Sen. Jack Reed and other officials marked the beginning of construction of Frenchtown Road I and II, which will create 63 mixed income housing units. The construction will be part of the Frenchtown Road Apartments.

The new complex will be a four-story building with community spaces including a courtyard, lounge, and wellness center.
The location is close to local businesses, highways, schools and Goddard Memorial State Park.
The development is expected to open next fall.
