Officials detail cause of fire at Finn’s Harborside in East Greenwich

EAST GREENWICH, R.I. (WLNE) – Officials have released more details regarding Friday night’s fire at Finn’s Harborside in East Greenwich.
The State Fire Marshal’s office said grease played a large factor in fueling the blaze, which began in a vent and extended to the building.
Authorities added that the fire suppression system only tripped after flames had spread to the building.
Finn’s Harborside said it will be closed indefinitely following the incident, as the restaurant suffered significant damage.
Owners of Finn’s Harborside released the following statement on Saturday:
Due to a significant fire on the property last night, we will be closed indefinitely as we sort through next steps. We are grateful to the first responders who came to the scene quickly and are thankful that no one was hurt. We thank you for your continued support and patience and will be providing updates when we have them.
