Officials investigating after Mansfield middle school student caught with BB gun, knife

MANSFIELD, Mass. (WLNE) — In a letter to parents, Mansfield public school officials said a student entered school with BB gun and a knife on Tuesday.
Principle Matthew McGuire sent the letter to parents Tuesday, which ABC6 obtained, and said a student became aware that another was in possession of a BB gun and knife, in which they immediately notified administration.
According to McGuire, the student and weapons were secured and police were notified.
“The Harold L. Qualters Middle School is dedicated to maintaining a strong partnership with families in our effort to provide the very best education for students. Open communication is key to that partnership,” the letter further states.
Police are investigating the situation, and the student was not identified.
