NORTH PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – Officials are investigating a possible arson case at a Pentecostal church in North Providence.

Police Chief Alfredo Ruggiero says a fire occurred at the Shiloh Gospel Temple on Charles Street at 12:30 a.m. Sunday morning.

The Office of the State Fire Marshal and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) have been called in to investigate potential malintent.

Authorities say they are following up on leads they have received and are conducting interviews.

State Fire Marshal Timothy McLaughlin says the office will release more information as the investigation develops.
