Officials to discuss ways to prevent future disorderly conduct on the Block Island Ferry

BLOCK ISLAND, R.I. (WLNE) — The New Shoreham Town Council will be discussing the Block Island Ferry tonight, and ways to prevent disorderly conduct in the future.
A total of nine people were arrested back in June after a fight broke at the Block Island Ferry terminal in Narragansett.
On tonight’s consent agenda, the council will discuss letters that they’ve received from concerned residents who suggest a full ban of coolers on the ferry to curb the amount of drinking on the island.
“If I were king, the last call would 11pm at all bars. Coolers would not be permitted on the ferry between Fourth of July and Labor Day unless in a vehicle. From Memorial Day to Columbus Day coolers would be subject to search and seizure at the very least,” wrote one resident in a letter.
Tonight’s meeting is at 7 p.m., and will be streamed via Youtube.
