Olneyville Health Center in Providence to close

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Olneyville Health Center will temporarily close at the end of the month.
According to a representative from Providence Community Health Centers, the national shortage of primary care providers is prompting the center to temporarily close at 100 Curtis Street in Providence.
All patients from the center will receive care at Providence Health Care sites.
The majority will be transferred to the 31 Atwood Street health center, located less than a mile away in Olneyville, said the representative.
Transportation will be provided for patients who need assistance getting to their new health center.
All clinicians and care teams from the 100 Curtis Street Site will transfer to new health centers so they can continue to care for patients.
“Providence Community Health Centers is negotiating with the State about our Medicaid reimbursement rates, as having sufficient rates will help us hire more primary care providers,” said the statement.
