One arrested after bank robbery in Providence

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Providence police investigated a bank robbery Saturday afternoon.
Around 1 p.m. ABC6 News crews spotted a heavy police presence downtown in the area of Kennedy Plaza and Exchange Terrace. Dozens of police officers and a K-9 unit were seen canvassing the area of Kennedy Plaza and Burnside Park.
Providence police said the TD Bank on Dorrance Street was robbed. A man got away with an undisclosed amount of cash. No weapon was shown, according to investigators.
Police said 59-year-old William Archer was arrested and charged with 2nd degree robbery.
The suspect was later tracked down and found on a RIPTA bus. Several police cruisers surrounded the bus on Francis Street and arrested the robbery suspect.
