NORTON, Mass. (WLNE) — A Foxboro man was killed, and five people were injured after a wrong-way crash on 495 North just after 11 p.m. Wednesday night.
Massachusetts State Police say Arnold Reda, 84, was traveling north by Exit 13 in Mansfield, when his Toyota Camry made a U-turn and started traveling south in northbound lanes.
Reda crashed just north of Exit 9 in Norton, first hitting a Mercedes SUV, injuring the 56-year-old male driver, a 42-year-old woman, and two boys aged 10 and 12.
All four were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Police say a good samaritan pulled over and broke the windows of the SUV, rescuing the two boys before the vehicle caught fire.
Reda’s Camry then crashed into a Lincoln Towncar. The driver, a 58-year-old woman from Weymouth, was not injured. The passenger, a 27-year-old woman from Foxboro, was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Reda was pronounced dead at the scene.
State Police are investigating the crash.
