One dead, another critically injured in Providence shooting

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — One person was killed and another critically wounded in a shooting in Providence late Wednesday.

Providence Police Chief Oscar Perez said a 34-year-old man was fatally shot and a 49-year-old man seriously injured in an incident on Harvard Avenue.

Police responded to the scene just before 10 p.m.

Both victims were taken to the hospital, where the 34-year-old was pronounced dead.

ABC 6 News crews observed 11 evidence markers at the scene.

Police are actively investigating the incident and said there were no suspects as of Wednesday night.

The shooting marks the fourth homicide of the year for the city of Providence.
