One dead in Wareham house fire

WAREHAM, Mass. (WLNE) — One person died and another was seriously hurt in a house fire Friday night.

Wareham firefighters were called to Kimberly Court just after 8:30 p.m. Friday for a reported fire.

Firefighters arrived to heavy smoke and flames, according to the Massachusetts State Fire Marshal’s office.

One adult escaped, but another did not make it out of the home and died inside, according to the fire marshal’s office.

The person who escaped was seriously hurt and was taken to the hospital by Wareham EMS, according to fire officials.

Neither person has been identified by officials at this time.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated by a number of agencies, including the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office.
