One dead, one seriously injured after two-car crash in Richmond

RICHMOND, R.I. (WLNE) – A man is dead after a two-car crash in front of Richmond Elementary School Thursday afternoon.
Richmond Police confirm the operator of a large pickup truck, traveling eastbound on Kingstown Road, lost control when he rounded the corner at Richmond Elementary School. He went into the westbound lane and struck an oncoming car.
The impact caused the car to spin off the road and land in the front driveway entrance of the school.
The crash caused the death of the male driver and serious injuries to the female passenger. Richmond police confirm the driver of the truck was not injured.
The female passenger was taken to Rhode Island Hospital. No word on her condition.
The names of those involved have not been released, as authorities are working to notify family.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
