One more juror: Panel for Karen Read retrial nearly complete, opening statements could come Tuesday

DEDHAM, Mass. (WLNE) — One more juror is needed Thursday before the murder retrial of Karen Read can begin.

On Wednesday, three more jurors were seated, bringing the total to 15.

As jury selection winds down, Read’s legal team has suffered a defeat out of Washington D.C.

An emergency motion from Read’s lawyers to the Supreme Court, asking them to put her second trial on hold, was denied.

Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson denied read’s request Wednesday on behalf of the court, but she did not provide any reasoning.

WCVB reports opening statements could start as early as next Tuesday.
