David Ortiz gets inducted into Hall of Fame

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Boston Red Sox all-time great David Ortiz was inducted into the Hall of Fame Sunday in Cooperstown, New York.
Big Papi is now the first and only designated hitter to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. He played 14 of his 20 year MLB career with the Red Sox. He made the Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility. He helped the Sox win three championship (2004, 2007, 2013). He played a major role in ending the “Curse of the Bambino” in 04′.
“We have some incredible memories. When I think about Boston, I definitely think about 2004, 2007 and of course 2013, after the city was shaken by a marathon bombing,” said Ortiz. “I will always be Boston, and I will always be there for you, Boston. I love you Boston.”
Ortiz was known for as being a left-handed slugger that came up big in the clutch hitting home runs. He’s 17th in total home runs.
