Outrage over Westport Farm taken up at Board of Selectmen meeting
An odd sight for people in Westport over the weekend, as a bull was on the loose. The animal along with a calf wondered around the streets of Westport, not far from the farm on American legion highway. This same property where thousands of animals were removed from a few months back after living in deplorable conditions. When police found the bull, they questioned three of the farm’s tenants, who they knew had similar animals but they said it wasn’t theirs. The owner of the property, Richard Medeiros, had a different story. According to police the owner of this property says his tenant lied and that the bull was in fact his. However he says the bull is no longer here. It was brought to Pennsylvania on Sunday to be sold in an auction. Police say the calf was auctioned off as well.
It’s confirmed there are at least 6 animals back in the farm and right now there’s nothing in place to say they can’t. That’s re-ignited frustrations over the abuse case. Residents plan to take up the issue with the town selectmen at tonight’s meeting.
"It’s not even a farm I called a death camp For animals. I don’t know how long investigation going to take so we should have no activity on the property until that’s completed," says Cheryl Castonguay of Westport.
Castonguay says she and others are up in arms for the animals’ sake and the taxpayers’.
"We want to find out if the attorneys of Westport. Have done proceedings to file a lead against the property so that Westport taxpayers can recoup the money that they’re losing for all these visits to the site in all the things that they’ve had to do."
