Over two dozen Johnston residents rescued from flooding by boat

JOHNSTON, R.I. (WLNE) — Over two dozen Johnston residents were evacuated by boat on Wednesday after the region was flooded by excessive rain and melting snow .
Mayor Joe Polisena Jr. said those living in the Park Street apartments were being evacuated first. Another boat was sent to the residents of Belfield Drive.

ABC 6 News saw a boat by standing water, where several vehicles appeared to be stranded.
Roads across Rhode Island were significantly flooded , creating a messy morning commute .
Damage across the state included a road collapse in a residential neighborhood in Cumberland .
Rhode Island State Police temporarily shut down Route 146 due to flooding and several stranded vehicles.
Officials said to never attempt to drive through standing water, and to be cautious behind the wheel during severe weather.
