P-Bruins Fall In Final Preseason Game
P-BRUINS FALL TO FALCONS 4-3
Season Opener at The Dunk on Friday vs. Springfield
Springfield, MA – The Providence Bruins fell to the Springfield Falcons 4-3 on Saturday evening at the MassMutual Center in their final preseason game. The P-Bruins got their goals from Maxime Sauve, Jamie Arniel and Jeff LoVecchio. The P-Bruins return home to open the regular season at the Dunkin' Donuts Center on Friday at 7:05 p.m. against the Falcons.
After scoreless first and second periods, the P-Bruins took a 1-0 lead only 13 seconds into the third frame. Sauve tallied his first goal of the preseason, while Zach Hamill recorded the lone assist. Twenty-five seconds later, Providence made it 2-0. Arniel netted his first goal of the preseason, with Andrew Bodnarchuk and Sauve grabbing the helpers. The Falcons pulled within a goal at the 3:50 mark. Dalton Prout scored his first goal of the preseason, with Chad Kolarik and Tyler Murovich notching the assists. Springfield then tied the game at two at the 6:36 mark. Tom Cavanagh had the goal, his first of the preseason, while Matt Calvert and Kolarik picked up the assists. The Falcons took their first lead of the game at the 9:32 mark. Kevin Harvey scored his first goal of the preseason, unassisted. Springfield later made it 4-2 at the 11:13 mark as Cory McGillis tallied his second goal of the preseason, while Matt Vokes and Murovich had the assists. The P-Bruins pulled within a goal at the 15:17 mark. LoVecchio netted his first goal of the preseason, with Yuri Alexandrov and Ryan Donald recording the assists.
Michael Hutchinson stopped all 13 shots he faced and Adam Courchaine stopped 7 of 11 shots for the P-Bruins, while Daren Machesney made 31 saves for the Falcons. The P-Bruins were 0-for-1 on the power play and did not go on the penalty kill.
