Parking bans ahead of weekend storm
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Multiple cities and towns in Southern New England are implementing parking bans ahead of the weekend’s storm.
New Bedford will have a parking ban in effect from 7 a.m. on Jan. 25 to 8 p.m. on Jan. 26.
The city said that violations of the ban will result in a $50 ticket.
There will be no parking on the following streets:
- Wood Street (Acushnet Avenue to Belleville Avenue)
- Acushnet Avenue (Tarkiln Hill Road to Coggeshall Street)
- Nash Road (Acushnet Avenue to Belleville Avenue)
- Ashley Boulevard (Nash Road to Coggeshall Street)
- County Street (Purchase Street to Cove Road)
- Cottage Street (Durfee Street to Union Street)
- Mill Street (Kempton Street to Pleasant Street)
- Kempton Street (Brownell Avenue to Pleasant Street)
- The Downtown Business District (County Street to JFK Boulevard, Kempton Street to Walnut Street)
- Dartmouth Street (Allen Street to Matthew Street)
- Rivet Street (Dartmouth Street to JFK Boulevard)

The City of Fall River will have a parking ban in effect from from 6 p.m. on Jan. 24 until further notice.
Parking in the city will be available at the following locations:
- Flint Municipal Parking Lot on Cash Street
- Municipal Parking Lot on Columbia Street (corner of Hunter Street)
- Morton Middle School Parking Lot (on Hood Street)
- Maplewood Park (Back Parking Lot)
- Kennedy Park, Park Drive
- Gates of the City
- Former Stone School (Globe Street)
- Former BMC Durfee High School Parking Lot (Ray Street)
- South Kingstown will have a ban in effect from 12 p.m. on Jan. 25 until further notice.
The town said that no parking is permitted on any public roadway, municipal parking lot, or municipally owned parking area during a ban.
Newport will have a ban in effect from 9 a.m. on Jan. 25 until 9 p.m. on Jan. 26.
The city said there will be free parking at the Gateway Center, Mary Street, and Touro Street during the ban.

The Rhode Island Convention Center Authority said it would be offering reduced-rate parking at the Rhode Island Convention Center North Garage and the Innovation District Garage from 12 p.m. on Jan. 25 to 3 p.m. on Jan. 26.
Overnight parking will have a flat rate of $10.
