Part of Route 28 closed after fatal crash in Middleborough

MIDDLEBOROUGH, Mass. (WLNE) — The Middleborough Police and Fire Departments said that part of Route 28 is closed after a fatal crash.

Police and fire responded to the area of Cushman Street and Rocky Gutter Street around 1:30 p.m. for report of a head-on crash.

First responders found that a delivery truck and an SUV had collided and subsequently caught fire.

The driver of the delivery truck was transported by ambulance to an area hospital, while the driver of the SUV was transported to an area hospital where they died from their injuries.

The area remains closed as police and fire are still on the scene, and the incident is under investigation.
