CRANSTON, R.I. (WLNE) – A man who allegedly carjacked a pastor after threatening to have a gun has been held on $20,000 surety bail.

According to Police, 28-year-old Casimir Dynak approached the pastor on Elmwood Ave on Wednesday August 15, just before 2 p.m.

Dynak reached into his backpack and told him he had a gun, when the Pastor then gave up his car.

The pastor hopped into a witness’s car and followed Dynak, and reported the carjacking to police.

After responding to this report, police boxed in the suspect and he was then arrested for 2nd degree robbery.

Earlier in the day, a woman had reported that a man was in her car and told her he needed to charge his phone,

She did not want to press charges, but the suspect was identified as Dynak.

Police and a K-9 unit searched for the gun Dynak said he had on him at the time of the carjacking, but he later admitted that he lied about having one at all.
