Paving begins on the Washington Bridge

EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Re-paving on the Washington Bridge has started as a new traffic lane is officially in place.

The Rhode Island Department of Transportation says every night starting at 9 p.m. workers will be re-paving the eastbound side. There will be alternating lane closures in both directions on I-95, from South Main Street, all the way to the bridge.

RIDOT says the work will eventually move to the westbound lanes.
