PawSox win 3rd Straight

PAWTUCKET,
R.I. — For the third consecutive day, the Syracuse Chiefs scored
early, only to see the Pawtucket Red Sox score more often.

On Sunday the PawSox fell behind in the first, as they'd done the
previous two games, before charging to a 10-3 rout in front of 6,902 at
McCoy Stadium.

In clinching the four-day series with Syracuse, which concludes on
Monday, Pawtucket totaled 14 hits, half for extra bases.  The PawSox are
3-0 on their homestand, 8-2 in their last 10 games and 35-22 overall,
making them a season-high 13 wins over .500.

The Chiefs jumped ahead on the fourth pitch from Rubby De La Rosa,
resulting in Eury Perez's third home run.  De La Rosa surrendered
another long ball with two out in the fourth by Zach Walters to make it
2-0.

Their disappeared in the next half inning.  Drew Sutton doubled off
Syracuse starter Matt Torra (L, 0-2), a product of Pittsfield, Mass. and
the University of Massachusetts.  Brandon Snyder also doubled and Mith
Maier walked to load the bases. 

Justin Henry then tied the contest with a two-run double, before
Jonathan Diaz broke the deadlock with a sacrifice fly.  Brock Holt
singled home Henry, extending his hitting streak to 11 games, and
Pawtucket had a 4-2 advantage.

De La Rosa left following a two-out walk in the fifth inning, therefore
failing to qualify for the decision.  Terry Doyle (W, 4-5) picked up for
him and pitched the final 4 1/3 innings to earn the victory.

The PawSox produced another four-run inning against reliever Brian Dupra
in the seventh.  Once more, Sutton ignited the rally with a double. 
Snyder again doubled, driving in Sutton for a three-run lead, and Mitch
Maier soon inflated the margin to six with
his three-run homer. 

After an injury-plagued spring, Maier has three home runs and 12 RBI in
11 games overall for Pawtucket.  His latest blast off Dupra, who was
making his Triple-A debut, put the Sox ahead 8-3.

The Chiefs scored in the top of the eighth on Corey Brown's sac fly off
Doyle.  However, Snyder rebutted off Ryan Perry with his ninth home run,
a two-run shot, in the bottom half of the inning.

Along with Henry, Snyder was one of two PawSox with three hits apiece. 
Sutton and Holt, who recorded his sixth multi-hit outing during his
streak, each had two knocks.

The International League North Division leader, Pawtucket bids for a
series sweep Monday at 7:05 p.m.  Alfredo Aceves (2-1, 3.13) meets lefty
Danny Rosenbaum (5-3, 3.54) on the mound.
