Pawsox Fans Rally Outside State House

Pawsox fans rally outside the state house Thursday, showing lawmakers where they stand when it comes to moving the team.

“The first deal they proposed is obviously was not a very good deal at all for the tax payers of Rhode Island, me being one of those tax payers, so I would fight that until the end,” Says Pawsox fan Chris Vincent.

The group is not only opposed to financing a new downtown stadium.  They’re also hoping to show lawmakers they’re serious about stopping the team from moving.

As it stands right now, there is no deal between the state and the new owners of the Pawsox. As far as Speaker Nicholas Mattiello is concerned, he is not in any rush to get the deal done.

“I believe ultimately, when they come to the realization that it’s going to move from Pawtucket and it’s either Providence or some other state…The deal we put forth before them, they will overwhelmingly approve it. I certainly hope that’s the case.”
