PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) _ The owners of the Pawtucket Red Sox have met with state officials and lawmakers to discuss their proposal for a new ballpark in downtown Providence.

Gov. Gina Raimondo, Commerce Secretary Stefan Pryor and I-195 Redevelopment District Commission Chairman Joe Azrack met Thursday with the owners of the Triple-A franchise.

A spokeswoman for Raimondo says the high-level meeting focused on reaching a fair deal for taxpayers.

The PawSox owners are seeking about $120 million in taxes over 30 years for the state to lease the ballpark. They want to build the stadium on land owned by the state.

House Speaker Nicholas Mattiello says he also met with the owners Friday to gather information and set up future meetings.

Raimondo’s office says they will have follow-up discussions in the coming weeks.
