PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WLNE) — The Howard Rogers American Legion Post 25 said that it gave away all 3000 toys it had collected for its first toy drive.

The toys went out to 800 families on Dec. 23, and there were no toys left to give away on Christmas Eve.

Organizers Jim and Jenifer LaRose said that one family received a bike in memory of a family member who recently passed.

They added that City Councilman Clovis Gregor and state Rep. Cherie Cruz were there the first day.

The post is planning on holding another drive next year.
