Pawtucket launches opioid settlement grant program

PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WLNE) — Mayor Donald Grebien and Attorney General Peter Neronha announced the launch of the city’s Opioid Settlement Grant Program.

Neronha has reached settlements with opioid manufacturers, distributors, and consultants in bringing in $330 million in lifesaving medication to the state.

Pawtucket was granted over $1.7 million to be released through 2038.

The city’s goal is to provide funding to essential services to improve the well-being and safety of Rhode Islander’s as we combat the opioid epidemic.

All funds recovered through the opioid settlements will be used for treatment, prevention, and recovery efforts.

To apply for the program visit City of Pawtucket’s website.

The deadline for applicant inquiries is March 15.
