Pawtucket man among four arrested in New Bedford suspected drug activity sweep

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — New Bedford police Organized Crime and Intelligence Bureau detectives arrested four men on various charges Wednesday, according to the New Bedford Police Department.
Two suspects were arrested after an alleged drug transaction on Studley Street at 12:30 p.m.
Lino Vertentes, 43, and Kevin Haslam, 39, both of New Bedford, were taken into custody after a traffic stop search yielded crack cocaine, according to police.
A third man present during the transaction, Calvin Rosa, 22, of New Bedford was not arrested, according to police.
Detectives returned to Studley Street where another alleged drug transaction was observed between Ahkari Jones, 30, of Pawtucket, RI and Rosa.
Jones was arrested and charged with trafficking 36 grams or more of cocaine and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended driver’s license.
Rosa was observed later that day entering another vehicle for what detectives suspected was another drug transaction.
Rosa was arrested after a vehicle stop and he was charged with distributing a Class B drug, conspiracy to violate the drug law, trafficking in 18 grams or more of cocaine, possession of a large-capacity firearm, possession of ammunition without an FID card and receiving stolen property.
