Pawtucket man arrested after stabbing brother-in-law

PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WLNE) – Pawtucket police responded to a report of a stabbing on Newport Ave shortly after 8 a.m. Tuesday morning.
Upon arrival, officers found a 31-year-old male victim with non-life-threatening stab wounds to his head. The victim was transported to Rhode Island Hospital.
Witnesses say an altercation broke out between the victim and his brother-in-law, Leonaldo G. Severino Martinez, 23, over their cat and dog.
Severino Martinez reportedly fled the scene on foot, and later turned himself in. He admitted to striking his brother-in-law with a pocket knife because he did not like the way his brother-in-law was treating his cat.
Severino Martinez is being charged with Domestic Felony Assault and Domestic Disorderly Conduct. He is scheduled to be arraigned in court Tuesday afternoon.
