Pawtucket man arrested after standoff with police

PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WLNE) – A Pawtucket man was arrested on domestic violence charges Friday evening after allegedly threatening a woman with a knife and engaging police in a standoff, according to the Pawtucket Police Department.
Police say Alim Tajudeen, 58, was initially uncooperative and refused to leave his apartment on Parkview Drive. He ultimately surrendered after negotiation with a crisis team.
Officials said police responded to the apartment complex at 7:30 p.m. after the victim called 911 saying that Tajudeen had allegedly put a knife to her neck and made threats to harm himself including committing suicide by police.
Tajudeen initially refused to speak with police after they arrived and remained in the apartment. A crisis negotiation team responded and convinced him to leave the apartment and surrender himself voluntarily.
Tajudeen was taken into custody without further incident, according to police. He is charged with several domestic violence charges including:
- Domestic Violence-Felony Assault/Battery
- Possession of Knife during Commission of a Crime
- Domestic Violence-Refusal to Relinquish Phone
- Domestic Violence- Disorderly Conduct
Tajudeen was arraigned by a bail commissioner Saturday morning at Pawtucket police headquarters.
