Pawtucket man facing murder charge in connection to fatal Cumberland stabbing

CUMBERLAND, R.I. (WLNE) — The Cumberland Police Department said the man accused of stabbing another man to death on Front Street is facing a charge of first degree murder.

According to police, Robert “Bo” Perry, 34, of Pawtucket, stabbed 38-year-old Otis Diggs with a weapon on Saturday after an altercation broke out between them.

Officials said they apprehended Perry in Warwick Tuesday afternoon. The details of his arrest were not immediately released.

Cumberland Police said Perry knew Diggs and they’re still working to learn more about their relationship.

Police also said Perry is a known probation violator and has a lengthy criminal history in both Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

When first responders arrived on the scene Saturday, they said they found Diggs suffering from stab wounds. He later died at Rhode Island Hospital from his injuries.

Multiple people were in the area when the incident occurred. Police said they’re in the process of interviewing all witnesses.

Perry is expected to appear in Sixth District Court on Wednesday.
