Pawtucket man gets life sentence for child molestation

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Attorney General Peter Neronha said Monday that a Pawtucket man was sentenced to life in prison after he found was guilty of multiple counts of child molestation.
Neronha said that 43-year-old Milton Aponte was found guilty of one count of first-degree child molestation, three counts of second-degree child molestation, and one count of simple assault.
Aponte assaulted a female victim who was younger than 14 years old. She came forward back in 2018.
Pawtucket police were able to determine that Aponte assaulted her multiple times from when she was 8 years old to when she was 12.
“Sexual assaults against children at the hands of a ‘trusted’ adult remain an ongoing, devastating problem in Rhode Island – we have charged more than 400 such cases over the last five years alone,” said Neronha.
On Aug. 24, Aponte was sentenced to life at the ACI, plus an additional 20 years to serve for violating a previously imposed sentence.
