Pawtucket man leads police on wild chase

A Pawtucket man is faces over a numerous charges after leading police on a chase on Diamond Hill Road in Woonsocket.

Richard Reis, 56, was arrested on a number of charges and outstanding warrants.

State Police say they attempted to stop Reis, who was driving a red Ford Taurus, who was speeding.

Reis attempted to evade police by moving behind a building on Walnut Hill Plaza. He then fled and hit a trooper who was trying to remove him from the vehicle. The Taurus then crashed into the Shell Gas Station across the street as he fled. Reis took off again when police tried to remove him from the vehicle.

The pursuit ended when Reis crashed into four other vehicles.

He was transported to Rhode Island Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

One other motorist was transported to Landmark Hospital for non life-threatening injuries. The State Police trooper did not sustain injuries from being hit by Reis.

State Police seized merchandise from his Taurus that was alleged to be stolen from the Emerald Square Mall.

Reis will be arraigned on charges of:

Driving Under The Influence of Liquor and/or Drugs- BAC Unknown

Assault With A Deadly Weapon
Leaving the Scene of Accident- Attended Vehicle
Reckless Driving/ Eluding Police
Resisting Arrest
Receiving Stolen Goods
Operating With A Suspended License-Certain Violations/DUI
