PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WLNE) —  U.S. Attorney Zachary Cunha said that a Pawtucket man who previously admitted to fentanyl and firearm possession was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison.

Adrian Montalvo pled guilty in April to charges of possession with intent to distribute 40 grams or more of fentanyl and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.

The 36-year-old was arrested in October 2019 after the Pawtucket Police Department’s Special Squad/Narcotics Unit “developed information” he was selling large quantities of fentanyl.

When searching his residence police found 2,118.35 grams of fentanyl, $79,106 in cash, a Glock 9mm semi-automatic pistol with an obliterated serial number, and items used for the preparation and packaging of fentanyl for distribution.

Montalvo was sentenced to 10 years in prison followed by four years of supervised release.

Cunhas said that Montalvo had several previous convictions for trafficking narcotics.
