A Pawtucket Police officer rescues a sleeping family from a fire Saturday morning.
Pawtucket Police Officer Gregory Malo rescued two adults and three children after he noticed a fire in a residential structure when was heading east on Central Avenue.
Officer Malo, kicked the door down as Officers John Donley and Paul Trout arrived at 77 and 79 Central Avenue and saved the family who was sleeping and unaware of the growing fire on the deck on July 12th at 1:20 a.m.
The officers then evacuated six other residents in the first and third floors and notified the Pawtucket Fire Department. They used fire extinguishers that were in their cars and buckets of water to help put out the fire.
Fire officials say the fire is not suspicious and believe a bag of charcoal on the deck caught on fire by a cigarette.
