Pawtucket Police respond to pair of late night crashes

PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WLNE) – Police are investigating a series of car crashes late Saturday night in Pawtucket.
According to Pawtucket Police, a vehicle collided with a utility pole in the area of Mineral Spring Avenue and Smithfield Avenue around 11:30 p.m. Friday.
The driver fled the scene, abandoning the vehicle.
As a result of the crash, Police said, power to nearby traffic lights was disabled.
At approximately 11:45 p.m., a second accident occurred at the intersection of Mineral Spring Avenue and Power Road when two vehicles collided.
Police said he cause of this crash is likely related to the power outage in area traffic lights.
According to Police, five people suffered minor injuries as a result of the crash.
Pawtucket Police are investigating.
