Pawtucket soup kitchen serves Christmas brunch to dozens Monday morning

PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WLNE) — For the 32nd year in a row, the Pawtucket soup kitchen fed dozens of people in need at a Christmas Day brunch Monday morning.

“This is my first time doing it on Christmas. Really just trying to spread some Christmas cheer that might not have a place to go or some food at the moment, and really just trying to help out the community,” said Caren Lazate, Pawtucket, volunteer.

It’s reminded by volunteers that giving back does not just need to happen around the holidays because the need for help is always there.

“Always get involved. There are always places that people can give back, depending on what it is that they want to do. Giving back is not always about the soup kitchen, it could be about volunteering at school or community events that your city is having,” added Lazate.

For one person who came to eat at the brunch, she said

The soup kitchen also serves a Thanksgiving dinner each year.

In addition, they serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner Monday through Friday and a brunch each Saturday.
