Pawtucket standoff suspect arraigned, held as bail violator

PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WLNE) — The Pawtucket Police Department said that the suspect in Saturday’s domestic kidnapping standoff was arraigned Sunday.

40-year-old James Perkins, of Cranston, was charged with domestic assault, domestic kidnapping, domestic assault by strangulation, domestic felony assault, and domestic disorderly conduct, some of which were from a previous warrant.

Police said Perkins was remanded to the Adult Correctional Institutions as a bail violator.

“For his previous warrant listed in the release sent yesterday he received $5,000 with surety,” police said. “For yesterday’s incident he received $20,000 with surety for domestic kidnapping and $20,000 with surety for all other offenses combined.”

Perkins was accused of holding a woman at his apartment, and refused to be taken into police custody for hours.
