Pawtucket to receive 22 zero-emission electric school buses

PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WLNE) — Officials in Pawtucket will be celebrating Children’s Health Month and funding for 22 zero-emission buses.
Today, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, alongside U.S. Senator Jack Reed, U.S. Senator Sheldon Whitehouse, U.S. Representative Gabe Amo, Pawtucket Mayor Donald R. Grebien, and Pawtucket School District Superintendent Patricia Royal will gather to celebrate 45 new clean school buses in five school districts across Rhode Island.
The recent round of Clean School Bus rebates, announced in May, allocated over $12 million to Rhode Island, to provide the funding for the 45 new clean buses across the state.
Pawtucket has received $7.63 million in rebate funding to purchase 22 buses through the EPA’s Clean School Bus Program.
The event will be happening at 10 a.m. at Joseph Jenks Middle School.
