Pawtucket woman arrested after investigation of crash with police cruiser

PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WLNE) – A Pawtucket woman was arrested following an investigation into a collision with a Rhode Island State Police cruiser in Johnston earlier this month.
Officials said 24-year-old Eneye Ayeni was arrested on Friday, Feb. 23, after State Police determined she was driving recklessly when she struck the cruiser.
An investigation revealed that Ayeni was traveling 97 mph in a posted 55 mph zone when she lost control and hit the rear of the cruiser, according to authorities.
The cruiser was parked along the right shoulder of the roadway investigating a previous crash in the area.
Officials said the Trooper was transported to Rhode Island Hospital with minor injuries.
State Police originally believed that weather was a lead cause of the accident.
Police said Ayeni was taken into custody on an Affidavit and Arrest Warrant for Driving so as to Endanger, Resulting in Physical Injury.
She was arraigned before a Justice of the Peace at State Police Headquarters and released with a future 3rd Distict Court date, per officials.
