The Christmas spirit is spreading in Pawtucket as a woman who recently got a gift from a stranger has chosen to pay it forward this holiday season.
"Something amazing happened to me yesterday," says Pawtucket resident, Ginger Charpentier, who is very grateful for one good Samaritan.
Ginger made a stop at the Dollar Tree on Central Avenue to buy Christmas decorations on Tuesday, but when her card was declined, she had to leave her items behind–until a kind stranger stepped in.
"Then all of a sudden the woman behind me says, ‘I’ll pay for it,’ and I said, ‘no, I can come back.’ She said, ‘No I’ll pay for it. Its your Christmas present, just pay it forward,’" explained Ginger.
The bill wasn’t much, just seven dollars, but it left a lasting impression on Ginger, who wants to make sure she keeps it going.
"I walked across the street after to the food pantry and they told me they fed over 600 families last month alone. So I’m going to donate some money to the food pantry, for sure," said Ginger. "It’s good to know there are some nice people in this world."
Ginger says all she knows about the kind stranger is that her first name is Rita, but she hopes this story reaches her to show just what an impact she made.
